Digital
dictation is quickly replacing the taped
method, due to its ease of transmission and much greater recording
capacity. No worn out
or lost tapes!
Record your
dictation, either directly into your
computer, or onto a digital
or analogue hand-held recorder,
then upload the sound file to your computer.
To record directly
into your computer, you can download a free trial of the
dictation software Express Dictate at
http://www.nch.com.au/express/index.html, and it can be
purchased very inexpensively.
Email the recorded file to Freelance PA, for transcription using Express
Scribe, which is compatible with all sound files.
The completed document is then emailed back to you.
Remember – we speak 7 times faster than we
write, and 3 times faster than we type, so dictation and
transcription is a very time-efficient way of getting the words onto
paper.
